You will be arriving at the Bandaranayake International airport in Katunayaka. A representative of Travellust Tours will meet and greet you there. You will then be transferred to your hotel in Negombo. It will take approximately 20 minutes to reach Negombo from the airport. Overnight stay in Negombo.
Have breakfast at the hotel and prepare to travel to the ancient city of Anuradhapura, which was the very first capital of the Sinhalese kings. The journey will take you close to four hours. Once you arrive, relax for a while and then go on and example the city's stunning attractions. The glorious ruins of the sacred city of Anuradhapura will be thoroughly explored today. The Mihintale monastery, Kalawewa tank, and Aukana buddha statue will also be visited and included in your day's travel itinerary.
With a delicious breakfast at the hotel, you will start your exciting day. Today you will be traveling to Sigiriya. The journey from Anuradhapura to Sigiriya will take two hours. Once you reach Sigiriya, you can rest for a few hours. You will also have the opportunity to climb the grand rock fortress today. It was built by king Kashapa in the 5th century AD and is considered one of the most important architectural and cultural landmarks of Sri Lanka. The site has beautiful water gardens, boulder gardens, and frescoes. Sigiriya is a UNESCO world heritage site. Overnight stay in Sigiriya.
Today, you will be leaving the ancient city of Polonnaruwa. Polonnaruwa is an ancient city in Sri Lanka that was the second capital of the island from the 11th to the 13th century. It is located in the north-central province of Sri Lanka and is considered one of the country's major archaeological sites. The city is known for its well-preserved ruins of ancient palaces, temples, and statues, including the iconic Gal Vihara temple complex. Today the site is a UNESCO world heritage site. After enjoying a delicious breakfast at the hotel, you will be traveling to the ancient city of Kandy. On the way, we will be stopping at the iconic Dambulla cave temple where you will see an array of ancient buddha statues. We will also visit the famous spice garden of Dambulla before reaching Kandy.
